Bingle Camp June 7th

Ole Sondeno-

First off, I apologize to my Mom & Roy for not replying to all of their comments. Mom – Thanks so much for taking care of our Princess Myla and watching the house, thanks for all of your help and keeping up with us on the blog (and posting comments too). Roy – Thanks so much for keeping watching over little Denis the Menace while we are gone and keeping us up to date here on the blog with comments!

We’ve been keeping plenty busy with all the fix-up stuff around the camp and our devotionals each morning. Today we put out the dock on the lake for the speedboat and rearranged some of the material that leads out to the dock, which took all of us missionaries and all the camp counselors (the stuff was quite heavy and awkward). We also finished a bunch of little jobs here and there like trimming grass and small shrubs from around a couple cabins, chopped up more firewood, dug trenches under a few cabins to help with drainage problems, tightened up the hardware on the bunkbeds throughout the camp, Bret got hot and cold water flowing at a cabin near ours, and lots and lots of other fix-up jobs around camp.

We had a wonderful dinner of chicken pot pie and after dinner Ray Eddy (the camp director) had wonderful gifts for us; Camp Bingle t-shirts!!! We will be wearing our new gifts during the Sunday service we will be putting on June 12th, so keep watch for them.

All the blogging for tonight. Tomorrow is our last day of working around the camp so we will be trying to wrap up the jobs we are only midway through and after that we will be heading out for fun in Alaska.

SPECIAL NOTE TO JONENE GEILE & TYLER HENRY:

Thanks for your help in putting together the service for this Sunday. Based on what we’ve planned with the youth, here is what I’d ask of you two:

Jonene – If you could put together the normal worship service (within Sunday Plus on the projector computer), using the information that Bret e-mailed Gina (the hymns, call to worship, etc.). If you need any pictures for the service feel free to grab them from our blog (http://fpcchurch.wordpress.com) website. As for the sermon portion of the service, we will be having a PowerPoint presentation so you can leave that slide blank or just skip it.

Tyler – The service should be fairly normal, except during the sermon portion which will be a PowerPoint presentation. We will have that put together and loaded on the projector PC before service begins (and the PowerPoint will be tested). You will just need to switch from the SundayPlus software to PowerPoint when the sermon begins. As the youth plan their PowerPoint presentation I’ll let you know of the details as Sunday gets closer.

THANK YOU BOTH FOR ALL OF YOUR HELP!

-Ole

Eric Garcia-

  1. Looks like either the water got a lot warmer, or there are a whole bunch of polar bears there. We usually had to wade in and drag Macy out of the creeks around here after her lips started to turn blue, so I’m not too surprised about her.

Cold, wet, windy, and pretty quiet here. Macy – Jessie is taking all the birds she catches and putting them in your room – I think she might miss you. Keep your eye open for a little bell for her collar.

The blog and pictures are so nice. Thanks for all the extra effort to keep it going.

  2. I agree – I thought it was pretty funny to see all of you in the water, especially after Kennedy and Macy’s adventure last week!
Ole, I’ll call Jonene and make sure that she sees your note here.
I was thinking – after the hard work you all are putting in up there, the jobs you have waiting here at home will be a breeze!!
Kenn – saw Grandma yesterday, she brought me fresh asparagus, which I will probably eat before you get home… sorry… but we’ll get more! Everyone asks about you, and I’m always glad to tell them that you fell in the lake. :-) Miss Pinney and Mrs. Scott were at the show last night – they both said that the Children’s All-State Choir was the best one they’d seen in a long time, and the kids were the most focused and best behaved they’d had in the last few years.
Enjoy your last “real” day of work – have fun playing, and don’t forget the souvenirs! Kenn, I miss you terribly, and can’t wait for you to be home!

    Love, Mom (Wendy)

  3. Hi Alaskian “PB’s”!

Macy–”A level”–physics and math rolled up into ONE!! Marshmallow towers…physics and math rolled together!!! Love you guys!!! When Ole was little, he and his brother would ask me a question and preface it with “but I don’t want to know all the physics and chemistry in the answer!” So now you know what it was like ‘living’ with me!!!

Ole-thanks for the thanks- but not necessary. Myla now thinks I’m a princess, she even licks me now! :D ) There will be homemake chicken and noodles, milk, bread, and oj in your frig when you get home so you won’t have to think about groceries when you get in Sat. I know you will have Sunday and the service on your mind, so it will be “food for thought”.

Macy, I was really tickled with the note Jerry left about your cat! Leaving you “food” is a gift of “love” and it does say “I miss you!” [hint hint...O and Q].

Okay, Sara, if that sandwich is what it looks like, onions on peanut butter, I’m never eating at your house!! :D ) You’ve been in the cold water too long!!!!

    Love you guys!

  4. Wow! We are very proud of all of you and the hard work you are doing to make a difference in the lives of those that will be attending Camp Bingle and working there this summer. Teamwork is a powerful thing. The camp is looking very nice.

Emily – did you eat a peanut butter and onion sandwich?

The cousins and siblings back home are on a mission too. They are setting up a lemonade and cookie stand at the Irma after lunch tomorrow to raise money for the people in Joplin, MO. Macey made 118 chocolate chip cookies.

We hope you get to see some of Alaska the next few days before you come home.
All the animals/pets are doing well.
We love and miss you. Be safe

    Mom (Emily) and sister Macey

  5. Hey, Ole – Jonene wanted me to let you know that she got the message… I’m going to pull some of the scenery pictures that you’ve posted here and save them on the church computer so Jonene can use them as background for some of the standard slides for the service. If you want to post any other pictures to be used for the service, just let me know which ones you want to use and I’ll save them on Saturday morning!

No other real news from home on this end – Kenn, I talked to your Grandpa Froehlich about the car they’re looking at for you, it might work just right and the price is nearly perfect… I talked to Grandma Corr via e-mail today and things are going well down there… and I talked to Grandma and Grandpa Elwood and they’re thinking of you and hoping you’re having a wonderful time!

    Love, Mom (Wendy)

  6. Greetings – young folks!
Looks like you are ALL working hard AND having a bit of fun – would like to advise AGAINST the onion peanut butter sandwich – anything with raw onions can’t be good for you! Hope the water was warmer than it looks!
    Hugs to you all!
    Kathy Wormald

  7. Hey Kennedy it’s Jenny,

Just checked out all the pics and blogs and I am so proud of all the work you and your friends have completed. It looks like you had some fun along the way too =) Sorry to hear about the canoe tipping but what a story you will have to tell everyone. Have fun at the hot springs and on your two free days! Hope to see you later this summer. Miss and Love you!
